96ROCK’S GARAGE BAND SEARCH
MAY/JUNE 2009
RULES & REGULATIONS
HOW TO ENTER & WIN: No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. All federal, state and local regulations apply. Participants should bring a press kit and CD of their band with no more than 3 original or cover versions of songs by 96rock (mainstream rock) artists to the 96rock offices at 3012 Highwoods Boulevard, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27604. Entry deadlines are MAY 14TH AT NOON for bands wanting to be considered for the MAY 21ST audition night. Bands wanting to be considered for the MAY 28TH audition night must have their CD submitted by MAY 21ST AT NOON. Bands wanting to be considered for the JUNE 4th audition night must have their CD submitted by MAY 28TH AT NOON. The top band from each audition night will then go on to the final event on JUNE 11TH at the Lincoln Theatre, at which the 96rock Garage Band will be chosen. You only have to submit one demo to be considered for all three audition nights. WBBB/96Rock will post select entries on www.96rockonline.com and will choose three semi-finalists to perform at each audition night to go to the final round. After the last audition night, listeners will have the chance to vote for the three final bands for one week before the finals night. Online voting will count as a percentage toward the final score. Participants will be judged on four criteria: Originality, Musicianship/Skill, Stage Presence and Crowd Reaction. Winners on audition nights and finals will be determined by a Osceola Studios judge, a Deep South Entertainment judge, a Lincoln Theatre judge, and crowd appreciation determined by a decibel meter. All four components will carry 25% weight in total score. Odds of winning depend on number of band entries. On the night of the finals, when online voting is factored in, each component will then count 20% weight in total score. Each band will be allowed to play a 30 minute set on finals night.
